We are pleased to offer “STOKES” on behalf of her retiring vendor. An
impressive sailing pedigree, she is a project but still able to be sailed now.
“STOKES” is a sturdy steel Bruce Askew design cutter-rigged sloop built by Chris Sturrock 1988 and purchased by the current owner/s 1992. The Askew design doghouse in iroko was added 1996.
A circumnavigation 1997-2002 included the Indian & Atlantic oceans to UK, the
South American east coast, Patagonian Channels (17 months) and the Pacific.
4mm mild steel hull, 11.2m LOA , 9.7m along deck, 3m beam, 6m keel, draft 1.4m.
Weight 6-7 t.
Kubota V1505 37hp installed 2008, diesel 150 litres.
Batteries: start 100ah, house 130ah (2015), Wind generator, solar panels, PWM controller.
Main, jib, light genoa (2006), staysail, trysail, storm main & storm jib (1988).
Tiller steering, Maxwell VWC800 electric winch.
Anchors: CQR on bow, 60m 8mm chain plus warp, 1 x Fortress FX16 with
VHF, cockpit compass, GPS x 2, sounder.
EPIRB, 2 x life rings, danbuoy, throw bag.
4-5 berth, manual flush toilet.
2 burner lpg cooker (9kg tank in cockpit), gas alarm.
Recent work carried out:
2019 April Antifouled, Balmar 14v alt bushes & bearings revamped/cleaned.
2016 Underwater hull grit-blasted and repainted.
2015 Engine realigned, new temperature sender, new fuel hoses, new engine switchboard.
Usable now and the pics show her motoring & sailing as recently as 21st Sept 2019.
She does require steel work around the toe-rails and some deck fittings as pictured. Mast and rigging are showing her age.
